I thought it was high time to introduce you to my inner critic. She’s probably the most influential member of my team; her hands have touched everything you’ve ever seen me do, say, or make in the twelve years I’ve been creating content on the internet. She is cunning, spiteful, holds no punches, believes I’m playing small (most of the time), and cares deeply that whatever I put into the world should be the best.
I disappoint her. Every day. She still thinks this new endeavor is a bit of a waste of time. (Who even reads newsletters anyway?)
Once my foe and taskmaster, this critic has become something of a roommate (instead of an unruly party crasher). I’ve found her to be quite helpful to have around, as long as she behaves. We’ve established a set of rules, boundaries, and expectations; I’ve accepted that she is there to stay, but at the same time, I won’t let her run my life.
Here’s how my greatest nemesis became my most important collaborator.
