Happy Friday!
Just as a reminder, we’ve decided to split up the bi-weekly newsletter into two parts — one part being for paid subscribers only, sharing an essay with my thoughts on different interior topics, i.e. mistakes I’ve made in design, trends I’m loving, projects I’m working, etc. The other part being for both paid and free subscribers with Kate’s 5 Things, an answer to a reader question, as well as an interior space that caught my eye recently. Nothing has changed for paid subscribers, other than the fact that you will now receive a newsletter to your inbox every Friday! Free subscribers, you can now expect this email every other week.
What I’ve been reading: This fascinating profile about one philosophers quest to remove loneliness from marriage. Have you read it? What did you think?
What I’ve been cooking & eating: All my body wants to eat these days is fresh produce! It can tell spring is long overdue. I made this delicious charred snap pea over ricotta dish this week and it was *chefs kiss* — exactly what I needed.
What I’ve been watching: have a big crush on Matthew Rhys so naturally I’m watching Season 2 of Perry Mason on HBO.
What’s in my cart: I cannot stop thinking about these pants! The vintage black pair really caught my eye.
One thing I’m looking forward to… spring and the snow finally melting! Anyone else?
Reader Question:
What is your system for necessities, i.e. mail? ‘With a designed space, how do you incorporate practical systems into your home?
Kate’s Answer:
I am not a super organized person and have found piles often make the most sense to me. Obviously piles are not aesthetically pleasing, nor do they work for the rest of my family, so I’ve figured out how to use my pile system behind closed doors. I have a big armoire in my office that houses a filing system, baskets for stamps, tape, paper clips, etc. It also holds our printer, family records, and important documents! I have to work to keep the piles from getting out of hand, so once a month I do a quick purge of things I don’t need anymore while listening to a podcast. All my other organization methods have failed me! If you’ve found a system that works well for you, I’d love know what it is—any tips and tricks are welcome!
Finally, the interior space that caught my eye this week is this insanely beautiful cottage decorated by Emma Ainscough.
I don’t know you guys, I don’t think a house could get more charming and effortless than this one! I had seen bits and pieces of this home across Instagram but had no idea these rooms belonged to the same adorable pink cottage. You can browse all of the photos of the home here.
Thank you for reading & supporting my newsletter. If you are already a paying subscriber, you will receive another newsletter to your inbox a week from today! If you are a free subscriber and would like to upgrade, there is a button at the bottom of this page where you can do so.
Have a wonderful weekend!
