Catching Up
There’s too much to say and not enough time so we’re jumping right into it this week!
Last Week’s House Call
In last week’s newsletter, “Creating Without Expecting Growth,” I wrote about how I’ve been trying to uncouple my tangled relationship with monetizing my creative outlets.
Here’s a snippet:
“We love beginnings. Take new love, for example. We obsess over the meet-cute, courtship, and wedding but prefer to end at “happily ever after” before the love transforms into something entirely different. The same goes for new ventures, start-ups, and shiny new apps. This sensitivity to subtle shifts in the complexities of love and affection is something I have learned to attend to. It’s breathtaking how quickly a marriage can unravel, and so I apply a level of care and attention to mine today because what happens after the chemicals of new love wear off requires an entirely different set of skills.
I hadn’t realized the same care would be required for my creative work. Before Wit & Delight, writing and designing were practices I could lose myself in—ones where I felt most myself, the outlets that sustained me during the darkest times in my life. Through those dark transition periods, I poured all my energy into what would eventually be named Wit & Delight. Through that pain, something valuable was alchemized and recognized by others.”
If my writing resonates and enriches your life, please consider supporting my work with a House Call paid membership! The support of readers is how I’m able to do more of this (writing and creating) and less sponsored content.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
How I'm feeling this week…
Generally, the vibe is exhausted but still kickin’. It’s the last week of school, and on top of wrapping up the school year and getting the necessary paperwork and supplies ready for a summer filled with camps, my social schedule is jam-packed. Normally I’d try to clear my schedule but honestly, time with my friends has been a saving grace lately. Now if I didn’t feel so guilty slipping out before bedtime.
What's in my cart…
This swimsuit, this tennis dress, and this smocked blue number. I found a great shade of burnt red lipstick and a really cool long denim trench that works well for cold summer nights and all through fall. A statement piece for sure!
I also tried a great tinted sunscreen that was gifted to me by One Skin. It not only protects but also repairs skin. I’ve been wearing it in place of my foundation. You can save 10% by using the code KATE10.
What I'm consuming…
I ate a whole tub of Spinach and Artichoke dip from Costco last week. Other than that, I watched Bridgerton and, thankfully, it felt like it started to hit its stride in episode four. I'm happy for Pen and Colin and eagerly await to see how they handle the messy business of forgiving each other for what truths will ultimately become revealed in the next round of episodes.
What resonated with me…
I finished Lady Tan’s Circle of Women this week. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so I’ll just say it’s thought-provoking and insightful, exploring the complexities of female relationships and the importance of authentic connections.
A question I've been asking myself lately…
Does this require a response? There is so much peace in just letting things that won’t matter later in life be left unsaid. This has helped a lot with critics on the internet—those who would rather perceive and judge than connect—and my tendency to identify too closely with a passing mood swing.

How dreamy is that desk/office setup? 😍 Also obsessed with that tennis dress and looking to level up my sport attire this summer.
I really enjoy Lisa See's books. She has a great way of weaving historical elements into fiction, and then digging deep into the interior lives of the women she writes about. Circle of Women was a ride, for sure.
