“Change brings out fears buried deep in our subconscious. Facing the necessary steps to make that change is terrifying. It doesn't come without loss, pain, anger, or confusion.
Sometimes you lose people along the way.
Yet by walking through it, we learn what we are made of, see beyond what we thought possible, and evolve. We understand the value of flexibility, self-reliance, and trust that things will work out.”
If you follow Wit & Delight, you probably heard that I've decided to make some significant changes to the brand, notably moving to publish part-time. I started this announcement with what was on my heart– it was time for a change, to make space for what's next.
Overwhelmingly, the response has been supportive. There has been confusion– people are unsure what to expect. Is she quitting? Is she gone forever? Or is anything changing at all? This was not a surprise. I had decided to move on– but not fully. So, while seeing my announcement as "quitting" and "downsizing" may be simpler, it's an evolution.
I know two things to be true at this moment:
What I was doing wasn't sustainable.
My values are often at odds with the business of "influencing."
To continue to ignore these truths is delusional.
