Nine Pines Design Update: Flooring and Mudroom Edition

Pushing creative boundaries in this unique house.

Things are starting to move over at Nine Pines! This design project is very much in its initial stages. The goal for this summer has been to make mudroom design decisions and flooring decisions so the family can fully move in. This includes installing hardwood flooring (and some carpeting) in a couple of bedrooms, a hallway, and a staircase. We didn’t want to have to remove or redo any of the flooring elements once the full scope of the updates began, so we took the time to consider the entire DNA of the home before making a final decision on flooring.

The reason the homeowners fell in love with this space was because of all of the existing character. The homeowners have a very distinct style that’s all their own and they want to make sure that it is reflected in every room, while working with a handful of unique elements that already exist within the house.

This is harder than it seems, because it presents some limitations that need to be taken into consideration. But it also pushes creative boundaries and I think that’s what makes this space so perfect for the homeowners!
