I originally launched House Call as a space to delve deeper into the motivations behind why we work tirelessly on our homes and ultimately, why it matters.
In the eight months since then, I’ve re-evaluated what my contribution to this online space means for both me and you, the reader. I’ve wrestled with my own convictions about the home decor influencer space and the role I play in it. I’ve committed to showing up more authentically—to talk about the aspects of home design that simmer beneath the pretty photos and provide accessible resources for design lovers like me.
The first few months of House Call felt like I was dipping my toe in. Now that I’ve had time to get a feel for this space and test the waters, I’m ready to give House Call a refresh.

A Few Things That Are Changing
1. Newsletter Schedule
Rather than sending the newsletter on Fridays, House Call will now be sent every Thursday (every other Thursday for free subscribers).
2. Free Newsletter Format
The prompts I respond to in the free Five Things newsletter will be changing slightly. The format will now look like this:
How I’m feeling this week
What’s in my cart
What I’m consuming (watching, reading, or eating)
A post I saw that resonated with me
A question I’ve been asking myself lately
It’s my hope that the addition of a few personal prompts will make for a more compelling reading experience—one that feels like you’re sitting down for a cup of coffee with a friend. I’ll also be including a snippet from the previous week’s paid newsletter topic, a peek into my life lately, and an inspiring interior design project I’ve come across.
I’ll no longer be answering a reader design question in the free newsletter. More to come on how this will be expanding into a new offering with more resources.
3. House Call Homepage Layout
The House Call homepage layout has been updated to make recent content easier to find and preview. Take a peek at the updated layout here!
4. More Clarity on the Purpose of House Call
As I’ve written essays these past eight months, I’ve developed so much more clarity around what this space means to me. I want to make sure the purpose of House Call is also clear to current readers and to anyone else who discovers it in the future. I’ve taken the time to thoughtfully update the messaging around House Call and what each subscription tier includes.

A Fresh Take on House Call
It’s easy to drift away from what really matters when we're on social media, scrolling through a sea of inspiration in which people are presenting only the best versions of themselves. I come to Substack to get centered and remember why I publish content in the first place: to empower others and connect with a community of people who are also looking for more meaning and depth. With so much opportunity to learn, grow, and be inspired online, my goal is to connect the dots between inspiration and action. I’m eager to keep showing up in this space that’s grown to mean so much to me this year.
To all who are here, thank you!
