What I’m Eyeing from West Elm’s New Pierce & Ward Collection
Plus– a Controversial Kitchen Update
Today’s bonus House Call post is brought to you by our friends at West Elm and is available to all subscribers. Thank you for supporting me at House Call!
When I heard about West Elm’s latest collaboration with interior design studio Pierce & Ward, I immediately perked up. Known for their eclectic, layered, and soulful interiors, Pierce & Ward bring a fresh, collected feel to every space they touch—and this collection is no exception. This collaboration has soul.
I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite pieces from the line (including one that might just solve a longstanding dilemma in our kitchen dining area). Speaking of which, I’m sharing a few early plans for an update I’ve been dreaming about in that space. It’s not a full overhaul, but it’s amazing what a few intentional changes can do.

The style of this collection works perfectly with the warm, honey tones of the oak paneling. We’ve realized we’d rather have a dining room table than an island in here, so the goal is to create a better sightline to the backyard while creating a warm and cozy eating space. I’m thinking of having the seating be a mix of chairs and a bench, incorporating a rug, lamps, and console table to make up for the lost storage in our island. I also want to bring in a pendant light that would hang from the ceiling in the stairwell going into our basement, which is a focal point for the dining area and right now not much to look at.
